Description: NAVCA will provide and market information about the services provided by the ICT Champions for local support providers. NAVCA will work with others in the sector to increase the number of online and offline places linking to the ICT Champions website. NAVCA will provide support to all ICT Champions to maintain the ICT Champions website and will investigate ‘legacy home’ for website (NAVCA, Improving Support or other)

Description:  Task Group 1 will work in collaboration with SKiLD NPP to produce the ‘ICT for Development Workers’ workshop with reviewed and refreshed content.

Improving access to quality ICT information and resources Task Group 1

Description:  Review of existing briefing sheets and where there are gaps, review and critique, with case studies where appropriate. Task Group 1 will produce a number of ‘briefing documents’ and ‘key website links’ which organisations can overprint with own logo or link to about relevant topics

Description: Each ICT Champion will collect & publish contact details on their website or newsletter of local ICT support providers and will ensure website is linked from the websites of regional infrastructure bodies. Each ICT Champion will continue to promote Z-cards and ICT answers in a box

Collect and share good practice examples of LSDO ICT support services and digital mentoring and share with other national sector providers

RCs will also be looking for further examples of new projects working well and adding value to local ICT support e.g. Digital Mentor projects, circuit rider projects

Description: Produce and publish (minimum electronically) a report mapping and outlining ICT support services working from within LSDOs – include good practice case studies.

Target Audience: Existing third sector organisations looking for ICT support, LSDOs working in support of third sector delivery of ICT support for themselves and for their members, existing social enterprises looking for ways to improve their support and services in ICT to third sector

Produce a standard technology health check template

 


Description: Collect all examples of existing health checks, post best compilation of existing materials onto collaborative document online and achieve agreed standard template. Promote the health check template as a tool for use within the sector – website, blogs and workshops.

Produce guidelines and other training resources which cover how to become established as a sustainable social enterprise support provider to the sector

Description: Build on report published April 2008 “Sustainable ICT support for the Third Sector – is Social Enterprise the Answer?” – Review and update with new examples and sector developments. Improved understanding of support for new-start ICT support and a new training package or workshop designed to introduce people to setting up an ICT social enterprise for third sector (dependant on further time allocation and funding)

Produce guidelines and other training resources which cover how to become established as a sustainable social enterprise support provider to the sector

Description: Investigate range of database / CRM / outcome recording and reporting systems and in-use by local third sector support and development organisations. Briefing sheets and article about range of database, CRM solutions and outcomes management products in the sector and ways to select appropriately. Review existing guides to databases / CRMs. Where gaps, review and update. (E.G. report by Lewis Atkinson – ICT Hub 2008 which looked at this area).

Making the most of Social Media

Description: NAVCA will work with Media Trust (Media and Communications NSS) to update “New Media” booklet and other resources. Include examples relevant to LSDOs and Volunteer Centres in the Media Trust “New Media” booklet.

Making the most of Social Media

Description: In collaboration with Red Foundation (as part of Modernising Volunteering NSS) develop and deliver a ‘Social Media for Support Providers’ workshop in each region. Will comprise of a Social Media Game, Explanation of tools,  Case Studies and Social Media Surgery
