Get Legal

Description: For many individuals and groups wanting to establish a new organisation one of the biggest challenges is deciding on the legal form and governance structure of the organisation. Choices are often based on dominant legal forms or preconceptions rather than well informed consideration of a range of structures.  Problems can also arise if organisations want to change their legal structures or governing documents.  The Get Legal training is designed to help development workers and advisors help organisations to overcome these challenges.

By the end of the training delegates will:

  • Have an understanding of the different legal forms
  • Have an understanding of the benefits and characteristics of each legal form
  • Be able to use the Get Legal website
  • Know how to register a charity
  • Know how to set up a company
  • Network with and learn from peers

The session will also include case study exercises and hands-on practical examples  to help you apply the learning to your work.  There will also be opportunities to ask your questions about legal structures.

Target Audience: The training is for advisors, development workers and other workers in infrstructure and support organisations who advise individuals and organisations about their governance and legal structures.
