Board Representation – Vanessa Bishop was re-elected in as Chair of the Childrens Trust Board, there was discussion about bringing in Private Sector involvement in the future – this was welcomed as long as they provided representation from the whole sector.
Early Help Strategy – due to be consulted on shortly 1st August for 3 months. Consultation will be through Focus groups as well as direct feedback. Really important that we encourage voluntary sector involvement as it will inform some commissioning intentions.
Accident Prevention – generally Solihull is under the national average for injuries for under 25’s. However, would still wish to improve position and, particularly, the inequities across the patch.
Annual Report – This was presented as an overview of what has happened over the past year. Recognised some of the issues, but partners agreed to the benefits of continuing as a Childrens Trust to enable joint working to benefit the lives of children and young people within the borough.
Trust board Priorities – Significant work has been undertaken with stakeholders including parents to refresh the priorities.
Childrens Services Report – Vanessa outlined the business plan. I received assurances that the voluntary sector would not be disproportionately affected by the savings that were being made.
Princes Trust Partnership – The police are looking for another partner to take forward this piece of work. The resource commitment would be 1 full time person for 2 years. I suggested that Sally or Keith speak to Dave Pinwell in respect of the BIG Talent Match as the cohort of young people they are working with fall into the NEET category.
SMBC/PCT Joint Commissioning – a new body is being created to commission with the CCG. SMBC are keen to keep commissioning with a local focus.
