Welfare Reform

Welfare reform will affect thousands of disabled people in the UK. From revised work assessments to the bedroom tax, many people are set to face additional hardship.

‘Bespoken’ have created a section on their website to provide information and advice regarding the changes to the welfare system.

As part of the reform of the welfare system, Disability Living Allowance (DLA) will be replaced by Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for people aged 16 to 64 on or after 8 April 2013. The DWP will introduce PIP gradually from April 2013, starting with new claims in a limited geographic area.

Whilst the majority of existing DLA claimants won’t be affected until 2015, some will be affected earlier. Read the full update from the DWP aimed at health and social care staff.
