Apprenticeships and traineeships – A report was given regarding the take up of apprenticeships in Solihull and the introduction of a ‘traineeshp’ for those not quite up to the standard and ready to take on an apprenticeship.  Between 2011 and 2012 2070 YP took up placements in Soliull, however there are still a low number of applicants for the vacancies and we discussed ways of promoting the positive value to these opportunities.

West Midlands Fire Service – gave a presentation on the change agenda and partnership working.  Explained that the previous 7 areas were being reduced to 5 across the region and they are now moving to a command approach which means that 4 commanders with specific areas of focus will look after 5 stations.  There is an emphasis on partnership working and the prevention agenda.
