Report from ICASS board – Sept 2015

Meeting Name:
Integrated Care and Support Solihull (ICASS) Programme Board

Date of Meeting:
17th September 2015

Key Points of Wider Interest Discussed:

Branding update

Discussions have taken place at SMBC regarding partnership branding. Deborah Martin-Williams presented a report and recommendations to SMBC’s Corporate Leadership Team (CLT).  CLT accepted the recommendation that for partnership/integration work the Solihull Together brand should be expanded and could include sub-brands in the future.  They also accepted that the Solihull Together for better lives brand should continue as it is.

Vanguard Status

The work of the Solihull Together for better lives partnership of local health and social care organisations to improve urgent and emergency care in the borough has been nationally recognised by being  awarded vanguard status by the NHS England and its Five Year Forward View partners for its work to create an integrated system that combines preventative services with rapid access to primary, social and specialist care both in and out of hospital, enabling people to take better control of their lives.

Achieving vanguard status means Solihull will receive national attention as well as being able to access specialist support and evaluation to help the partners to achieve their vision of creating an integrated health and care system that extends people’s healthy, active lives for as long as possible.

Welcome to Professor Ian Philp

Professor Ian Philp, recently appointed as Deputy Medical Director for Older People’s Care at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. Ian is an adopted Silhillian and former national ‘Tsar’ for older people. He is now responsible for transforming the care for older people across the Trust and specifically for Solihull.

Caradigm Update

Pilot expected to be up a running by March 2016

Potential Follow Up Action/Discussion/Feedback Required:

  • Continuing to make the point that real integrated care cannot be achieved in Solihull without the voluntary sector being recognised as a significant player in the health and social care arena.

Date of Next Meeting: Thursday 5th November, 1.30-4.30 at The Better Living Centre, Elmdon, which opened at the beginning of November
