Research into hate crime in the West Midlands

 

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has commissioned Leicester University to undertake research on hate crime to:

  • Identify the support needs of hate crime victims in the West Midlands
  • Identify victims’ experiences of support services in the West Midlands
  • Identify ways of improving existing support services for hate crime victims

The findings and recommendations from this research will help to improve support provision in the West Midlands and inform the commissioning of support services.

As part of the research they are conducting interviews with actual and potential hate crime victims, as well as service providers and frontline practitioners. They have also developed a survey which enables anybody, regardless of whether they have experienced a hate crime, to share their views:
