The M&S Energy Community Fund has announced that not-for-profit organisations can apply for funding for renewable energy projects that can demonstrate they have the support of their local community.
A total of £300,000 is available and the maximum available for each project is £12,500. Applicants can include:
- Parish or Town Councils
- Local action or interest groups (IPS, CiC, Co-operatives)
- Scout and Guides groups
- Village or community hall associations
- Sports and recreation clubs
- Co-operative schools
- Religious or faith groups.
Applicants will need to submit their application form by 23rd June 2017.
Projects that are then shortlisted, will need to organise support from their community to vote for their project on the competition website. The projects with the most validated votes per region be awarded funding. There is also a Judge’s Discretion Prize. Through the price a minimum of £20,000 of funding will be shared amongst the most inspiring projects.
