Report from Health & Wellbeing Board – 13 Jun 17

Meeting Name: Health and Wellbeing Board

Date of Meeting: 13th June 2017

Key Points of Wider Interest Discussed:

Election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman

It was confirmed that Councillor Ken Meeson is to continue as Chairman for the 2017/18 Municipal Year, and Dr Annand Chitnis, Solihull CCG is to continue as Vice-Chairman.

Birmingham and Solihull Sustainable Transformation Plan (STP)

An engagement programme with stakeholders is being planned. It was noted that the STP is not set in stone but is an ambition to make services sustainable and transformed.  The hope is that we can keep what is good about the local system (of which there are many good examples in Solihull) and not lose the economies of scale where working across Birmingham and Solihull may be the better option.

Better Care Fund

Still awaiting the guidance!

Clinical Commissioning Group plans

A consultation is to take place on the merging of the three CCG’s – Birmingham South Central, Birmingham Cross City and Solihull, to create and organisation that is fit for the future, which will improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Birmingham and Solihull.  It is understood that the new organisation will go live in 2018.

Preventing Violence against Vulnerable people (PVVP)

This programme which covers the West Midlands Metropolitan Authorities was established in 2013 and covers workstreams such as Safeguarding Schools and Communities; Female Genital Mutilations, Child Sexual Exploitation; Public Protection and Rape and Sexual Assault.  Working across the patch has allowed for added value to the programme with impact being demonstrated on a number of strategic, national, regional and local priorities which are tackled and co-ordinated through this programme.

Potential Follow Up Action/Discussion/Feedback Required:

Voluntary sector colleagues should look out for the engagement programme for the STP and note the concerns that a merging of the three CCG’s may have an impact (positive or negative) on the voluntary sector who are commissioned to deliver health related services now and in the future.

Date of Next Meeting:  18th July 2017
