Our Heritiage: protecting and sharing local heritage – Heritage Lottery Fund

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has announced that the final deadline to apply to the Our Heritage programme under the current funding arrangements is 18th January 2019.

Our Heritage grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 can be awarded to protect anything from personal memories and cultural traditions to archaeological sites, places of worship, museum collections and rare wildlife. Not-for-profit organisations, private owners of heritage (individuals and for-profit organisations) and partnerships of both groups are eligible to apply.

Examples of funded projects include:

A grant of £45,700 to IT Zone, a small CIC providing training and IT skills for older and unemployed people for their Rossendale Footwear Heritage project that offers those who worked in the industry the opportunity to share their stories.

£76,000 to Swaledale & Arkengarthdale Archaeology Group for their Swale dale Big Dig where volunteers and school children are being trained in archaeological techniques, taking part in their own digs and producing information about their discoveries.
