The King’s Fund has published a report entitled ‘A year of integrated care systems – Reviewing the journey so far’. It reviews progress with the national quest to provide ‘joined-up and proactive’ health and social care support in local communities by ‘collaborating across organisational boundaries’, to optimise use of resources and improve the health and wellbeing of local people.
Even where health and social care are not mainstream activities for us, across the Third Sector, we should be interested in the direction of travel here. Meeting the needs and affording it are a crucial issue of our time. Charities, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and communities are all stakeholders in getting it right.
This is a weighty tome but an important one. I will say no more and let the report do the talking.
