Chairperson Opportunity – ReCOM

ReCOM has an exciting opportunity for a new Chair of Trustees to lead the board through the next stage of our journey to help even more marginalised individuals get on-line in the Solihull and Birmingham Area.

ReCOM is a small registered charity, which provides community based digital skills training to around 500 people in the Solihull area each year – reducing isolation, increasing employment prospects and improving access to services, keeping in touch with friends & family, saving money and much more. We also offer affordable, refurbished computers to voluntary organisations and individuals in need.

Starting from a zero base in 2002, the charity has grown significantly. We have an enthusiastic and committed team of 5 staff; more than 40 skilled volunteers; and several experienced tutors. Many of our services are delivered in partnership with other organisations and ReCOM is a key partner in Solihull Council’s Employed for Success project (with European Social Fund funding to June 2020). We are now looking to build on our skills and expertise to expand our activity base further to improve our long term sustainability.  

Due to the planned retirement of the Chair this year, we are seeking a new Chair, with the passion and enthusiasm to provide leadership into the future; enabling the Board to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity and to support the operational team.  In return you will have the opportunity to work with a loyal and committed team to really make a difference in the Solihull/Birmingham area.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in a leadership role within the charity sector, experience in governance a role, as well as responsibility for developing new services and the associated funding streams. The role is likely to require a commitment of one day per week.
