Report from Solihull Together Board – 15 Jan 19

Meeting Name: Solihull Together Board (STB)

Key Points of Wider Interest Discussed:  

Birmingham and Solihull Sustainability and Transformation Partnership

Solihull Council is part of Live Healthy, Live Happy, a Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) with Birmingham City Council and local NHS organisations.  The STP met earlier this month. There are plans to pull together a local five-year plan based on the Government’s recently published NHS Long Term Plan.

West Midlands Combined Authority

A draft budget for the West Midlands Combined Authority had been agreed.

Police Update

The Police provided an update on local crime figures and noted that noted that crime is up everywhere in the West Midlands including Solihull, but the Borough is performing better than other local areas at present.

Homelessness Strategy

The Board received a presentation on the Homelessness Strategy which is currently being consulted on. It is due to be presented to the Health and Wellbeing Board shortly. It was confirmed that it is a one year strategy with the Government expected to publish new guidance in late 2019.

Solihull Children’s and Young Person Event

An event is being planned for May 2019, the purpose of which is to gain commitment from partners across Solihull in the ambition to move from ‘good to great’, explore opportunities for joint work, agree priorities for action, outline a high level programme of work and consider mechanisms to support the implementation.  The outcome is to agree a five year programme of integrated working for children and young people up to the age of 25.

Neighborhood Level Healthcare Working

A workshop was held on the 13th December 2018 which agreed the following principles:

  • Focus on prevention
  • Strengthening early intervention
  • Coordinating services
  • Supporting community driven development
  • Shared planning
