About SUSTAiN
SUSTAiN provides support services and development to all types of charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, faith organisations, social enterprises and any other ‘not for personal profit’ organisations that operate for the benefit of people in Solihull. Much of what we provide is FREE.
We are part of Colebridge Trust Ltd. and grew out of a project set-up to prepare local voluntary organisations for a changing future. Read more about our history.
In addition to the day to day support we offer to Solihull’s third sector, SUSTAiN continues to look to the future to make sure that the conditions are right for the long term sustainability of voluntary organisations in Solihull. Hence our name. This includes securing alternative sources of income such as building an asset base and developing social enterprises.
SUSTAiN is also here to make sure that the Third Sector has a say in decisions that affect its future and clients. SUSTAiN exists to make sure that the views of charities, community groups and other types of voluntary organisations are heard.
In a recent survey, we calculated that up to 70% of Solihull’s residents are connected in some way to Third Sector organisations; either as volunteers, paid staff, supporters, trustees, members or service users.
SUSTAiN’s vision is to be a major force behind the development of a truly representative, go-ahead Third Sector in Solihull.
- Create a strong consortium to lead the development of the Third Sector;
- Improve infrastructure services to address core needs;
- Provide resources to kick start building capacity in key areas;
- Build greater cohesion and equality within the sector;
- Establish the Third Sector as an equal partner with other sectors in Solihull so that cross-sector working has greater mutual benefit.
