The Compact

The Compact is a national initiative to establish an official agreement, or framework, between Government and the Third Sector, to further improve relationships between them.

Although the Compact is a voluntary agreement, by developing and signing up to it together, partners undertake a moral commitment to its successful implementation based on shared principles.

The ‘Compact Plus for Solihull’ is an agreement at local level, established by the Solihull Partnership and signed by its Governing Board, for the operation of Compact principles in relationships betweeen the members of the Partnership and the local Third Sector.

Within the Compact the Partnership and the Third Sector have established Undertakings that will underpin their relationship with each other.

Associated with the Compact will be fives Codes of Practice, covering the following:

  • Consultation & Policy Appraisal
  • Funding & Procurement
  • Volunteering
  • Community Groups
  • Black & Minority Ethnic Voluntary & Community Groups

There will also be a Policy for Dispute Resolution. A consultation about these documents is in progress.
