Need Office Space?

Maggie Leaver at Solihull Carers Centre has recently moved to new offices in Marston Green and has advised us that David Simpson, the proprietor of Touchstone 1 and 2 Pinewood Business Park, has indicated he would be interested in doing favourable deals on office space with other charities.

Free Family Law Surgery

Young and Lee Solicitors are offering a FREE family law drop-in surgery every Monday night between 5.30 – 8.00pm.  No appointment is needed.  Free parking available.

Everyone gets at least 20 mins, but if time allows, depending on the number of people attending, they will spend as much time as needed.

The idea, is simply to give general advice, and reassurances, and see how they can help taking the matter forward and if they cannot help, it is likely they will know who can.

The areas of family law covered are: 

  • Divorce or separation
  • Arranging contact with your children
  • Seeking residence orders
  • Going through separation In a Civil Partnership
  • Surrogacy
  • Adoption
  • Pre-nuptial agreement
  • Cohabitation agreement

The general advice can be given in relation to non-contentious matters as well as issues that arise following separation.

Forward Thinking Trustees Needed

ReCOM is a forward thinking charity which is tackling the causes of digital exclusion in the UK. It helps the disabled and disadvantaged enhance their lives by providing access to information technology through affordable refurbished computers.

ReCOM is looking for another member to join an experienced and enthusiastic Board of Trustees which is responsible for the overall direction, vision and strategy of ReCOM. We are looking for people who are able to contribute to the strategic debate and are enthusiastic about widening accessibility to IT. Ideally, you should also have skills or experience in one or more of the following:

  • business management
  • marketing
  • legal
  • IT services or training
  • fundraising
  • the voluntary sector in Solihull and/or Birmingham
  • working with some of our target beneficiaries, including the elderly, the housebound, those on low incomes or with disabilities.

Help to set up a Charitable Company

Castle Bromwich Youth and Community Partnership is currently an unincorporated body. The partnership is seeking to become a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee to facilitate growth and fundraising activities. They have prepared an application based on information provided by the Charity Commission but are seeking expert advice before submitting. Building upon Success

Barry Allaway of WWMD (World Wide Magazine Distribution) will be abseiling down the side of Birmingham’s Fort Dunlop building in May. He is doing it to raise money for SoLO.

SoLO enables children, young people and adults with learning disabilities to enjoy social and leisure activities that the rest of us take for granted. SoLO is a registered charity that operates throughout Solihull.

It’s a Knockout

Every year in September the village of Castle Bromwich has its biggest community event. The Parish Council organise an It’s a Knockout event with the community and local business participating. They are seeking more businesses to support this event as it grows year on year.

The event is for the whole community young and old, and last year over 4,000 people attended. The event was heavily promoted with emails to community groups, press and poster campaigns. Business sponsorship and promotion opportunities are available for this event.

Art Display Equipment

Friends in Retirement, a locally based organisation supporting retired and elderly people to maintain an active life, are planning to hold an exhibition of arts produced by some of their talented artists. They are looking for display boards to mount paintings, ideally free standing, but will consider offers of display equipment of any size or type depending on availability.

Is Your Team Challenged by Decorating?

Waterloo Woodwork support people with learning difficulties. They provide a safe workshop learning environment but some areas could do with a freshen-up. Lots of free tea and coffee and paint etc. can be provided; a great team ½ day.

School Seeking Business Partners

Hazel Oak School in Shirley is bidding for Specialist Status seeking to embed the theme of ‘business and enterprise.

They have recently created a Business and Enterprise Centre providing programmes of study in Hair and Beauty, Painting and Decorating, Horticulture and Catering.

You may be able to support them financially i.e. sponsor a chair in our hair salon, a painting and decorating bay or a patch in the garden or offer training, by sending in one of your staff team to work with or speak to our young people.

In return they will display plaques in the Business and Enterprise Centre recognising your generous contributions and would be keen to publicise links with business partners.
