Personal Assistant – 1 to 4 hours per week – Trial period initially

Solihull Life Opportunities is looking for a patient and determined support worker to befriend a 14 year old boy in the Fordbridge area of North Solihull.

Keiran has aspergers syndrome, anxiety issues and is withdrawn.  The role requires a male, preferably between the age of 18 – 30 to spend time chilling out with Keiran watching TV, playing football, going to the gym or McDonalds and to encourage him to engage in social activities with his peer group.

A car driver is preferable as if needing to travel Keiran does not enjoy travelling with others.

Start date ASAP.

Rate of pay £8.93 per hour.

Personal Assistant – After School

Solihull Life Opportunities is looking for an energetic and fun support worker to provide care and supervision to a lively 9 year old boy on a Tuesday after school until 6.45pm.  A car driver is essential as he will require picking up from school and attending activities such as horse riding, swimming, ice skating, McDonalds etc and then dropping back home afterwards.

The ideal candidate must be able to work on own initiative and trained in physical interventions.  Start date ASAP.

Rate of pay £8.93 per hour.

Internship at Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support is looking for a buzzing  volunteer to join our local Fundraising Team over a 3 month period as an intern to help and support in the preparation for our biggest fundraising event the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

This event takes place on the last Friday of every September and in 2011 raised over £10 million throughout the UK. This year with the help of a dedicated intern we want to make the event even bigger and better!

Not only is this opportunity a superb platform to build essential skills working on the ground with the local fundraising team,  but the candidate will also be part of a UK wide intern training programme. Skills developed will be a great stepping stone for the future in a variety of sectors!

Trustees Needed

Solihull Action through Advocacy was established as a charity in 1995 to  provide advocacy for people with learning disabilities living in Solihull.

Our work involves supporting people on a one to one basis and through the facilitation of group work with the focus on supporting people to build upon their self advocacy skills. In everything we do, Solihull Action through Advocacy promotes inclusion and equality and works to secure the rights of the people we work with.

We are governed by a Management Committee made up of volunteer Trustees. We are currently looking to appoint two new trustees to support the work of the charity and ensure that Solihull Action through Advocacy fulfils its obligations as a charitable organisation.

As a trustee you will:

  • Oversee the development of the organisation, making sure it is in line with our constitution
  • Ensure the charity has the resources to carry out its work
  • Support the directors to carry out their work
  • Monitor the activity of the charity to make sure our practice lives up to our policies
  • Meet as a Management Committee every 6 weeks

Care Manager

The Family Care Trust is looking for a Registered Care Manager for its Colebrook Day Centre and Respite Unit in Chelmsley Wood. Full time post, £27,000 per annum

We are recruiting a self motivated person with excellent communication skills to run our EMI day centre and residential Respite care unit.  To meet the demands of this role you should have sound managerial experience in social care, together with a good understanding of Care Quality Commission standards.  Successful post holder must hold either NVQ level 4, RMA or RGN qualification.

Web Designer – Internship

Do you have strong design and up to date front end web design skills and need to build up an impressive portfolio of work?

Colebridge Communications can offer you the opportunity to impress future employers with a range of real client work.

You should have strong skills in writing semantic HTML, CSS and JavaScrip and be proficient in Adobe Creative products such as Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign. Able to use CMS such as WordPress & Expression Engine.

We need someone who can turn out eye catching professional design work for web & print.

We also produce videos so knowing how to keep the boom out of shot and a working knowledge of Final Cut would be good but isn’t essential.

This is an unpaid post (expenses paid) for a minimum of 3 months. We will help you build up an impressive portfolio of real client work for a range of clients – mostly voluntary sector organisations.

We plan to expand our operation in the near future. Whilst we can’t promise a paid job nothing is impossible with the right person with the right skills.

Scout Commissioner Required

The Scout Association in Solihull are looking for a volunteer with management and leadership experience who wants to do more in their community, with good inter-personal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others to be our next County Commissioner.

The County commissioner is responsible for leading the Scout County, ensuring that we provide good quality Scouting for young people aged 6 – 25 years and taking us forward into the future as a growing organisation relevant to young people and adults alike. This is a management role supporting adults not directly with the young people themselves.

Current membership of the Scout Association in Solihull is 2,362 and growing.  The purpose of writing to you is the hope that you will help us either by circulating this vacancy through your organisation or nominate someone you know who has the skills and experience to fulfil this role.

Volunteers Wanted for new Volunteer Centres

A new volunteer centre is now  open in Chelmsley Wood

Volunteers are needed to help provide information and support to members of the public seeking volunteering opportunities.

Voluntary Advisers will provide direct face to face services to enquirers and need to be able to offer at least 4 hours a week.

This role requires good communication skills as well as being able to use a computer.

Training will be provided and travel expenses will be paid.
