The Environment Champion volunteers absolutely adore our parks and often travel to different parts of the borough on our community clean ups and are astounded with the variety and facilities.

Recently one of my volunteers from Knowle came up to the Meriden Park clean up and was amazed at the park - she then took her family there at the weekend for a picnic - Result!

Here's a thought. In terms of 'customer satisfaction' with the product, Skoda gets better marks than Rolls Royce, BMW, Mercedes and Lexus and a few others; yet few would regard Skoda in the same league. The reason being is that Skoda delivers more than its image promises. Rolls Royce, on the other hand, whilst good, isn't as good as many percieve it should be. Could our expectations of our parks be so high that we are harder to impress? Do we take the excellent facilities we have for granted?

That's not to contradict the need for people to feel safe. That remains a basic need and should be addressed. But sometimes we forget how fortunate we are in this borough and how well served we are by our parks staff and the support from the Friends groups within the community. We should thank and applaude them.

hi dave
i think there are a lot of problems with the academy system i fear that they can be to choosy as to what pupils they take and that there is no proof that they actually improve results therefore i have to ask the question is throwing money at a school the answer or should we go back to nursery school and ask ourselves what can we do better.
i think that we forget that a childs education is the responsibility of the school the parents and the community and all the parties named above need to come to the table in order for the child to suceed
